It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of the renowned Belgian artist sculptor Jacques Van den Abeele. His contributions to the world of art have been unique and his legacy will continue to inspire generations of artists to come.
Born in 1960 in Belgium, Jacques was a graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Oudenaarde, and awarded a medal by the Belgian Government for Decorative Arts and Sculpture.
Jacques Van den Abeele's incredible talent and passion for the music and art were evident in every one of his sculptures. His ability to capture the essence of his subjects, whether it be the human form or the animals, was truly touching and remarkable.
We have been working together and Art Yī represented his work with admiration and friendship in Brussels, Belgium.
Throughout his career, Van den Abeele's work has been celebrated in numerous exhibitions and galleries around the world. He leaves behind a body of work that is both timeless and thought-provoking, and will continue to be admired for years to come.
Playing with voids and solids to confer power and mystery on his subjects and to stimulate the imagination of the public, animals and musicians were his favorite subjects. He sculpted each work as a unique piece, working each wax for each authentic and original edition, and patinating his bronzes himself in a different way.
We extend our deepest sympathies to Jacques Van den Abeele's family and friends during this difficult time. His memory will forever live on in his art, and we are honored to have been a part of his incredible journey as an artist.
