A moment of childhood, captured forever.

As children, we all want to be our parents' favorite, our object of affection. Here, it's an elephant that two little girls each want to have all to themselves! Luckily, the animal is good-natured and amused by the situation. Neither will win, and they both end up riding on its back…

With “Elephant and two girls,” Sophie Verger composes a scene that feels both playful and deeply touching — a fleeting instant of shared joy, transformed into timeless bronze.

Two girls, united in their spontaneous laughter, each claim their part of the game: one gently pulling the elephant’s trunk, the other tugging its tail. Between them, the elephant smiles — not as a subject, but as a companion. A friend. A quiet accomplice in their innocent mischief.

There is no tension here, only harmony. The sculpture radiates that rare and precious balance of childhood: the freedom to play, the simplicity of connection, the unquestioned presence of trust. It is a world where humans and animals meet on equal ground, bound by joy.

Verger’s genius lies in this subtle storytelling — the softness of the forms, the liveliness of the gestures, the almost breathing warmth of the bronze. Every angle reveals a new emotion, a new tenderness, as if the scene could come alive at any moment.

To live with this piece is to preserve that feeling: a daily reminder of lightness, affection, and shared happiness. It doesn’t simply decorate a space — it fills it with life.

A baby elephant of your own… and with it, a piece of childhood that never fades.
