The remembrance of being happily seated on the shoulders of a father, a hero in the eyes of this little girl. Little by little life will change this image. I wanted to fix this moment of perfect harmony.
With Father and Daughter, Sophie Verger captures one of the purest and most universal emotions: the silent bond of protection, trust, and unconditional love between a parent and a child.
Standing gently upon the bear’s shoulders, the young girl seems both fragile and fearless. Together, they embody a tender balance between strength and innocence, grounding and dreaming. Sophie Verger gives the animal a profoundly human presence — calm, protective, almost meditative — while the child becomes the symbol of wonder, imagination, and transmission.
The textured surface of the bronze brings warmth and life to the sculpture, giving the impression that the piece has always existed, like a timeless memory. There is something deeply reassuring in its presence.
Placed in an entrance hall, a living room, beside a staircase, or even in a quiet library corner, Father and Daughternaturally becomes an emotional anchor within the home. It does not simply decorate a space — it inhabits it with tenderness, soul, and humanity.
To live with this sculpture is to surround oneself daily with a feeling of love, serenity, and emotional connection. It is the kind of artwork collectors keep for a lifetime because it continues to speak to the heart, year after year.
Provenance
It is a very old story, perhaps a myth, perhaps not, when the earth was a garden where they lived in peace, an era of harmony and of games: the childhood of the world. It was a time when the children of men learned to speak the language of the seal, even before the forces of nature incarnates themselves sometimes in the hippopotamus, sometimes in the crocodile.Exhibitions
