Between sky and silence, between landscape and abstraction, Véronique Deschepper’s work explores one essential pursuit: making the invisible visible.
 
Her artistic universe could be described as an Inner Luminance: the external light of the sky, the subtle vibration of colour, and the profound emotional resonance within. In Véronique Deschepper’s work, light is not merely observed — it becomes a mental space, a landscape of the soul. 
 
Through her recurring motif of the horizon, the artist does not seek to capture a specific place, but rather a suspended moment — that delicate boundary where sky meets earth, where reality slowly transforms into emotion. Her paintings become spaces of contemplation, inner landscapes where everyone can rediscover their own memories: a forgotten sunrise, the softness of a summer evening, the peaceful immensity of facing the ocean. 
 

“My pictorial practice explores light and perception through a refined and minimalist approach to painting.


Starting from a recurring motif — the horizon — I create compositions that exist on the delicate boundary between landscape and atmospheric abstraction. Forms gradually dissolve, giving way to fields of colour and subtle transitions, inviting the viewer into a pure visual experience that exists before words and beyond language.”

Her experience in the restoration of artworks has given her an exceptional sensitivity to pictorial materials, a deep understanding of colour, and a remarkable mastery of traditional techniques. This expertise naturally nourishes her own creations, where precision, patience and emotion become essential elements of her artistic language.
 
Her work revolves around vast fields of colour where light seems to emerge from the very essence of the pictorial material itself. Through a patient process of layering and subtle gradients, combined with the freshness of oil paint, Véronique Deschepper creates open, suspended atmospheres — somewhere between presence and disappearance.
 
The horizon occupies an essential place in this artistic exploration. Sometimes clearly affirmed, sometimes barely suggested, it becomes a minimal reference point that structures the space while allowing colour to unfold its own dynamic. Nuances respond to one another, merge, and vibrate together through layers, creating visual fields that invite contemplation.
 
When atmospheric elements appear, they are never simply added to the composition; instead, they seem to arise naturally from the painting itself. Modelled by light and still connected to the fresh material of the paint, forms gently emerge before dissolving once again into the coloured space.
 
Between abstraction and the evocation of landscape, Véronique Deschepper’s works invite the viewer to slow down and fully inhabit light, colour, and their infinite variations.
