2022 is the Year of the Tiger in Chinese New Year. Liu Dongyao created this huge work for this, praying for everyone in the new year, may it bring you luck and courage.
The Tiger is known as the king of all beasts in China. The zodiac sign Tiger is a symbol of strength, exorcising evils, and braveness.
Liu Dongyao skillfully combines the image of the tiger with the Chinese character "tiger 虎", forming a unique contemporary calligraphy abstract work of "calligraphy and painting in one".
In the background of the character "tiger 虎", the artist uses his original "fried ink" method to make mineral pigments of different colors blend naturally layer by layer and splash on the rice paper.

Provenance
The tiger is the third of all zodiac animals. According to one myth, a long, long time ago, the lion rather than the tiger was a Chinese zodiac sign. However, the lion was too ferocious and notorious, so the Jade Emperor in charge of Chinese Zodiac wanted to remove the lion from the list and he had to choose another animal to replace the lion. At this time, the Jade Emperor thought of the tiger guardian in front of the Heavenly Palace.
