In IIXV, Lieven D’Haese gives form to a universal inner impulse — the desire to move forward, to rise, to embrace what lies ahead with openness and trust. The figure, arms wide and body leaning into space, seems suspended between earth and sky, between reflection and action. It is a moment we all recognize: that silent second where courage begins.
The title itself evokes the symbolism of two open hands — ten fingers extended toward the future — a gesture of both surrender and confidence. It is not only a sculpture of movement, but of intention: a step toward something greater, guided by instinct, hope, and an invisible sense of direction.
Monumental in scale, the work naturally becomes a focal point within a space. Whether placed in a garden, an entrance, or a light-filled interior, it creates a dialogue between stillness and elevation. The bronze surface captures light throughout the day, subtly transforming the sculpture’s presence and reinforcing the feeling of a living moment.
