The fairy crane is recognized as a first-class cultural bird in Chinese history. The civil servant's supplementary service, a civilian embroidered fairy crane, listed it as an important symbol behind the royal dragon and phoenix, so people also called cranes as ”first-class bird". At the same time the crane as a symbol of senior officials.
Provenance
